Treatment room and phlebotomy appointments are booked up to 8 weeks in advance. You can arrange a nurse appointment by telephoning reception, please mention to the receptionist what procedure you will be having (i.e. fasting blood test, audiogram, ECG) so that we can arrange an appropriate slot.
Child Health and Immunisations
You will receive a letter when your child is due for their vaccinations. The vaccination clinics are held on Thursday mornings at the Old Fire Station between 09.00 – 11.00 and are located in the Annex Building. If you are unable to make your appointment, you can attend between 11.00-11.30am the following week.
Chronic Disease Clinics
The nurses hold designated clinics for respiratory and diabetes reviews that are recommended every 6 – 12 months.
Influenza Vaccination
The influenza vaccination is developed yearly and is an annual vaccination against seasonal flu. The influenza vaccination is offered to a number of NHS patients free of charge (i.e. if you are over 65, have certain long term conditions, work with vulnerable people, are pregnant) and you will be contacted by text or letter inviting you to have the vaccine (please help us contact you by providing your up to date mobile phone number). If you are not eligible for a free vaccine on the NHS, the NHS rules unfortunately prevent us from charging for the vaccine although you can obtain this at some pharmacies as a private vaccine (there is usually a small fee).
Pneumococcal Vaccination
The pneumococcal vaccine protects against serious and potentially fatal pneumococcal infections. The vaccination is available routinely to people aged over 65 and you will receive an invite from the surgery when you become eligible. You only need a single pneumococcal vaccination, which will protect for life. It is not given annually like the flu jab.
Shingles Vaccination
Shingles, also known as herpes zoster, is an infection of a nerve and the skin around it. It’s caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which also causes chickenpox. It’s not always possible to prevent shingles, but a vaccine called Zostavax can reduce your chances of developing the condition. This vaccine is now routinely offered on the NHS as a single injection to people aged 70 and 78. You will receive a routine invite when you are eligible for the Shingles Vaccination.
